Folk Festival On The Dock is a brand-new event taking place in Liverpool which will showcase the best of folk music. Taking place on Albert Dock, it will be held on the August bank holiday weekend. The festival is free but there will be some parts requiring a ticket which are available here.

One of the first acts of the festival will be The Christians. Unfortunately this has already sold out so ensure that you purchase tickets for the events before they sell-out fro other performances.

Janice Long will make an appearance. Janice is a Radio 2 DJ and also a Mercury Music Award judge. She will be host to the main dock stage. Janice was actually the first female to have her own daily BBC Radio One show and provided Amy Winehouse with her first radio performance.

Be sure not to miss the Zilferblat. This is a new venue on the up dock where customers pay by the minute. Inside you can drink and eat whatever you please as you pay for the time that you’re in there. The price is 8p per minute and if you wish to attend during the festival booking in advance is suggested.

On the Saturday afternoon a new folk song will be premiered which has been commissioned by the Albert Dock. Many choirs will be involved to celebrate Liverpool’s contribution to music. The choirs will also do a few more songs after this on the Stan Ambrose stage on the dock.

Many of you may have heard of the Lost Brothers. They are headlining at the Hartly Quay on the Saturday evening. This group have performed at Glastonbury, on the late show, at the Electric Proms and various other places around the world.

Winter Wilson will be showcasing her latest album named Ashes and Dust. This is a follow-up to her Cutting Free album which was the daily Telegraph’s recommended folk album in summer 2014. After many years of experience and performance we can expect to see an excellent live performance.

Eleanor Nelly, the popular singer songwriter from Liverpool will also be appearing. Even though she is only 16 years old she already has a good few years of life performance under her belt. She also has an EP out. Plus, the Gilmore and Roberts duo have been nominated for the radio to records three times. They will also be performing at the folk Festival.
And finally, finishing off the folk Festival will be the Goat Roper Rodea Band performing at 5:30 PM on the Monday evening. These have been described as a fresh and energetic genetic three-piece acoustic and are known for their excellent harmonisation and fun and memorable songs.

So this will be an excellent week to get out and experience some folk music. will be adding a detailed timetable for the event.
